🎉39, Thriving, & Proof It’s Never Too Late to Start

Age Is Not an Excuse to Not Start Your Fitness Journey

Hey, Work It Out Fam!

Tomorrow is my birthday, YAYYY! I’ll be turning 39 — just one year away from the big 4-0. 🎂✨

And as I reflect on this milestone, there’s something I really want you to hear loud and clear:

💙 It is NEVER too late to start your fitness journey.

I didn’t begin my fitness journey at 18 or 25. Although I had been a dancer all of my life, my true passion for fitness didn’t start until I was 35.
And that decision changed my life.

So, if you’ve ever told yourself:
👉🏽 “I’m too old to start.”
👉🏽 “I should’ve started years ago.”
👉🏽 “It won’t make a difference now.”

Let me stop you right there… NONE of that is true.

🌱 Starting a Fitness Journey After 35? (Yes, You Can)

Starting later doesn’t mean you are starting from behind. It means you are beginning with wiser, more aware, and more intentional practices. Starting, restarting, or continuing your fitness journey after 35 takes maturity and intention, which can yield better, longer-lasting results.

Here are a few gentle, but powerful ways to begin (or restart) your fitness journey:

💪🏾 Start Where You Are

You don’t need to go all in on day one.
Start with walking, light weights, stretching, or dancing (with me!) in your living room.

✨✨ Progress builds from consistency, not intensity.

🧠 Protect Your Mindset

This isn’t about punishment or shrinking your body.
It’s about strength, energy, confidence, and longevity.

✨✨ You’re doing this to feel better, not to chase perfection.

🏋🏾‍♀️ Strength Training Is Your Friend

Muscle matters more as we age — for balance, metabolism, bone health, and confidence.
Yes, light weights count, too.

✨✨ Start small and grow strong gradually.

🛌 Rest Is Part of the Plan

Your body heals and grows when you rest.
Sleep, recovery, and listening to your body are just as important as movement.

✨✨ Giving ourselves grace in recovery is key!

💛 Give Yourself Grace

You don’t need to “make up” for lost time.
Every step you take now is an investment in your future self.

✨✨ The goal is to push for a better future, not dwell on the past.

🍽️ A Healthy Holiday Meal That Loves You Back

Everyone needs a festive, nourishing plate that supports your goals without sacrificing flavor. Here are some ideas:

🍗 Citrus Herb Roasted Chicken

Season with lemon, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and olive oil.

🥗 Cranberry Walnut Spinach Salad

Spinach, dried cranberries, walnuts, red onion, feta, and balsamic vinaigrette.

🍠 Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Olive oil, cinnamon, paprika, and black pepper.

🍎 Baked Apple Dessert

Apples baked with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a drizzle of honey — simple, warm, and satisfying.

Simple. Balanced. Comforting. Perfect for the season.

👕 My Journey, My Growth

This tee is personal for me — because my journey didn’t start early, but it did begin intentionally.

My Journey, My Growth” is a reminder that:

  • Your path is your own

  • Growth takes time

  • Progress looks different for everyone

Wear it as a celebration of where you’ve been — and where you’re going.

🎂 One Last Birthday Revelation

Turning 39 feels powerful.
Not because I’m close to 40 — but because I know what my body and mind are capable of now.

If you’re over 35 and wondering if it’s too late… let me be your proof:

✨ It’s not too late.
It’s right on time.
Your best chapter can start today.

With gratitude, growth, and birthday love,
Jessika 💛🎉
