💌 Taking Your Power Back Is a Healing Practice
Finding Your Light Again Can Accelerate Your Wellness Journey

Hey Work It Out Fam,
This month, I want to talk about something that so many of us struggle with but rarely ever discuss—the feeling of powerlessness.
Recently, something happened that really hit home for me as a mom. I found out that some other kids were bullying my son in his after-school program. It had been going on for months—10 months, to be exact—and he hadn’t said a word. When I learned about it, I could see how much it had affected him. His light was dimmer. His confidence was fading. He felt helpless. Powerless.
That moment broke my heart… but it also reminded me of something powerful: when we lose our voice or our confidence, we also lose our sense of control. The goals that we have seem unachievable, so we give up on them. We start fitness plans, but don’t follow through. We forget that we still have power—even when life feels out of our hands.
So, I stepped in and confronted the program, of course, but I also sat down with my son to talk about recognizing toxic relationships and standing up for himself. Then I gave him options—new after-school programs, activities, or simply more time at home. I let him decide what he wanted to do with his life.
And y’all know what? His light returned. His shoulders lifted in confidence. The kid had a belly laugh again. Just one opportunity to control his fate helped him retake his power. 💛
💪🏾 Finding Your Power When You Feel Powerless
We all go through moments like this, right? There are times when we feel stuck, silenced, or small. Maybe it’s a job that drains your energy, a relationship that makes you doubt your worth, or a fitness setback that’s left you frustrated and defeated.
But remember this, y’all:
✨ You always have choices, alternatives to your current situation.
✨ You always have a voice; even a small voice can command a crowded room.
✨ And you always have the power to change your story. Always.
Even though you can’t control everything all the time, you can control how you respond. You can reclaim your boundaries. You can speak up for yourself and others. You can walk away from toxic situations. You can start over again with new life, light, and conviction.
That’s what healing is—it’s the process of reclaiming your power one step, one decision, one act of self-love at a time.
I love y’all. 💙💙✨✨🫶🏽🫶🏽✨✨💙💙
